JFD Cutting is a family-owned waterjet, laser, and fabrication shop in East Earl, Lancaster County. We've grown from one waterjet in 2012 to a 14,000 sq ft facility with two waterjets, two lasers, a press brake, and a fab shop — and we're a small enough team that the person running the laser is a big part of how the day goes. We need someone who can own our Trumpf.
What you'll do
- Set up and run our Trumpf 6kW CO₂ laser (80" × 160" bed, dual shuttle table) from nested programs
- Load sheets, unload and sort cut parts, and tag them by job
- Choose assist gas (N₂ / O₂) and cut parameters for the material and thickness — thin gauge through plate
- First-piece inspection to the print with calipers, tape, and gauges (we hold ±0.010")
- Routine machine care: nozzles, lenses, mirrors and beam path, slat cleaning, consumables, and keeping the area clean
- Help out with deburring, sanding, and forklift work while the machine is cutting
What we're looking for
- Hands-on experience running a CNC laser. Trumpf TruLaser / TruFlow CO₂ experience is a big plus; fiber experience welcome
- Comfortable reading prints and using measuring tools
- At ease with machine controls and shop computers
- Forklift experience, or willing to get certified
- Reliable, on time, and careful — the parts you cut go straight to customers
- Able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet through the shift
- Nice to have: waterjet, press brake, or nesting / CAD software experience
Schedule, pay, and benefits
- 40-hour week, first shift — Monday–Thursday 7:30–4:30, Friday 7:30–11:30. We plan the work to fit 40 hours; overtime isn't part of the job, so you keep your evenings and your Friday afternoons.
- Health insurance — JFD pays 100% of the employee premium after 90 days.
- Two weeks of paid shutdown every year — one week around Christmas and New Year's, one week around the Fourth of July.
- $22–$25 per hour, based on experience. The top of the range is for someone who has run a Trumpf CO₂ and can own the machine from day one. Tell us what you've run.
Why JFD
No corporate layers. You'll work directly with the Bloom family, on modern equipment — Trumpf and Bodor lasers, OMAX and Jet Edge waterjets, a Bystronic press brake — with a steady mix of work from Lancaster County manufacturers. If you like variety and want your work to be noticed, this is a good place to be.
